So what does math have to do with real life? Eileen Ivers, a master fiddler in the Irish tradition and a native of Bronx, graduated magna cum laude in Mathematics from Iona College. Math, she says, formed the basis for much of her music, which is, after all, all about rhythmic patterns.

Here's a provactive blog by a New Zealand student, a musician -- The Bass Player's Blog -- who wonders why there isn't a School 2.0. In one blog he wonders why teachers don't say something like, "Hold on a minute, class. If that explanation of algebra wasn't quite easy enough, maybe there's a YouTube video that I could Google that would explain it better."

And here's a video to have students write about, a different world. What does this video make them think? Why do these students not smile?

Can you develop audiences for your students who want to combine performance, music and math?

And here's a video about a school that teaches math by involving students in real-life architectural design.
